Hot Bikram Yoga – have you tried it yet?
With over 840 studios worldwide, Bikram Yoga is the fastest growing yoga in the world. It consists of a unique series of 26 yoga postures (asanas) and two breathing exercises performed in a heated room. The heat warms up your body allowing you to stretch into the postures in a safer environment. The heat also promotes sweating which in turn flushes toxins from the body.
The class is suitable for all levels (athletes to exercise virgins) and ages (from eight to 80) as everyone just works to their own ability. It is also great fun! You will laugh, sweat and groan, and do more for your mind, body and health than you ever imagined possible!

Who Chooses to Sweat?
Helen, Balham, SW12
I’ve made a lot of choices in my life. I’ve chosen to change careers. I’ve chosen to travel to distant continents. I’ve even chosen to pick up, pack up, and move my life clear across the Atlantic Ocean. But this is by far the most challenging choice of my short yet significant life.
Here's a fun little glimpse into my first few days of Bikram. Suffice it to say, I'm hooked!

Welcome to Balham, and much needed. I am a bit of a Gym bunny and was a little reluctant to give up a gym session for a yoga class. OMG, did I love it YES! It's something I will now try to do at least twice a week along side my gym routine. I can't describe how great it makes you feel.....90 minutes went ever so quick and thats always a good sign. I'm happy to say that I was
one of the first to use the Balham Studio. Sunday 10.00am class and that I'm a convert. see you next week!

Before I tried this I always thought of yoga as a 'soft' exercise - something I would do in addition to my regular gym sessions but not instead of. How wrong was I?! The first class I went to was probably physically the hardest thing I have ever done - I felt sick, almost fainted and came out looking like I'd been for a swim I was so sweaty, but afterwards you feel incredible, and after several sessions your skin glows and people tone up very fast. I would strongly recommend this to anyone looking for a bit of variety in their exercise regime - I am totally addicted now! Olga's studio is great - the instructors are all very good, and its conveniently located very close to Parsons Green tube!
