Mao Tai, named after the celebratory Szechuan liquor, has opened the Mao Bar & Restaurant, a revitalized venue which echoes the established style of Mao Tai with a glamorous and sophisticated edge. The ethos is comfortable design and food which spans South East Asia, prominently featuring China.

With a kitchen plucked straight from Hong Kong the overall mood at Mao Tai is relaxed and chic with dishes ranging from dim sum, tempura, and crispy duck to regional curries and fresh fish. The menu covers Asia – from Thailand and Japan to Malaysia and China. All time favorites, such as tuna spring roll with ginger & coriander, asparagus & sweet potato tempura, creamy rock shrimp togarashi, crispy beef shreds, steamed salmon with ceviche dressing, sea bass with ginger and spring onions and aromatic duck with pancakes are readily available. Specialist ingredients are imported weekly from Asia and freshness and flavor are crucial to the menu's diverse appeal.

The extensive selection of wines, organic sake, shochu, and cocktails make the Mao Bar a stylish place to be. Martinis served straight up or tall need never be drunk alone, with a delicious choice of daily prepared dim sum served at the bar.

Mao Tai is a bustling, friendly restaurant on the New King's Road. The service is excellent, the food is great (No MSG which is a great bonus) and the atmosphere was bustling on Friday night. It's a great place to go for groups too!
