WHO: Kirsten Goss
"I arrived in London in 1998 after completing a degree in Jewellery Design and Gemmology at the University of Stellenbosch, South Africa. With both my portfolio and naivety intact, I headed directly for Erickson Beamon and got my first gig in the jewellery industry. Whilst there, I worked on high profile projects with real leaders in the fashion field, such as Matthew Williamson, Rifat Ozbek, Julien McDonald, Dries Van Noten and Alexander McQueen.

After seeing my designs on front covers of glossy magazines, I cheekily thought…’I can do this myself!’ I believe I was destined to do it – jewellery has always been a huge part of my life. In 2003, I designed a crystal and mesh skirt for the actress Sarah Jessica Parker in ‘Sex and the City’, and a year afterwards I was asked to create an exclusive range for Liberty’s unprecedented “Spirit of Liberty’s” exhibition.

I make sure that all my handmade pieces are exclusive to Kirsten Goss and of the highest quality and I pride myself on innovation. When it comes to design, I try to push the boundaries of people’s imagination and take things to the next level. Combinations of unusually cut gemstones, both precious and semi-precious, Swarovski crystal, sterling silver and gold, create chic pieces that are admired for their charm and beauty and get endless compliments. Alluring cuts of natural stones, from aquamarine, topaz, kyanite and chrysoprase are used to create texturally rich items that assures each piece is inimitable."

WHAT: Kirsten Goss London sells a truly stunning collection of distinctive pieces that are both unique and everlasting. The boutique is tucked away in the quaint Holland Street in Kensington and echoes the originality of the jewellery collection. The gallery style of the boutique has a crisp, fresh feel and tangible appeal (especially for the girls!). Its wooden floors are brightened up with lashings of aqua-marine paint with walls kept white and bright to show off the jewels in the best possible light. A traditional African Nguni cow hide in chocolate brown and cream softens the bright colours and makes for a boudoir twist with a splash of texture.

All in all the boutique has an absolutely charming feel, and a visit is like stepping into an oversized jewellery box… Prices vary depending on the pieces and materials but start (very reasonably) from £35 for sterling silver and crystal earrings, to around £500 for signature pieces with hand cut gold and alluring stones. We reckon there is something to suit most feminine tastes and wallets!.

Kirsten Goss also offers a bespoke service; the thinking behind it being – ladies would rather splash out on a gorgeous, original piece of jewellery (which they've had a hand in designing) than be caught at a party with the same necklace as someone else! The bridal side is a large part of the bespoke business too. Kirsten Goss has been known to customise nearly anything, from veil detail, to elaborate or simple neckpieces to bracelets and hair accessories, all custom made to the bride's taste.

WHY: Choose Kirsten Goss for timeless and exceptional pieces of jewellery that will give you a touch of class and sophistication. Kirsten Goss herself is currently making wave after wave in the press, (so we're not the only ones who think she's fab!) and we hear on the grapevine that lovers of her jewellery include Hollywood’s A list stars Sarah Jessica Parker and Rosamund Pike…

WHERE: The nearest tubes are either Notting Hill Gate or High Street Kensington. The boutique is situated off Kensington Church Street on Holland Street.

WHEN: The boutique is open from 10 - 6pm, Monday - Saturday!
