Just what we like to see. A guide to London’s finest independent stores, don't leave home without it. Purses at the ready…
Are you starting to feel the Christmas shopping panic? You know, that gnawing feeling that time is running out and the only realistic solution is to hit the dreaded Oxford Street run after work, or even worse, at the weekend. Well, pause for a moment there is an alternative and it shouldn’t take up any more time and you’ll walk away with armfuls of super gifts. It’s called the Independent London Store Guide.
A brand new guide to London’s most interesting and individual independent stores, it covers more than 165 outlets where you’ll find a huge range of exciting fashion, furniture, food and art. Split into twelve sections exploring different areas, each has a handy map pinpointing the shops’ locations as well as colour coding to tell you what you can expect to find there. The store descriptions are chatty, to the point and are accompanied by lovely photos.
So why not browse each area to decide which will work best for you? Hoxton and Shoreditch for the quirkier boutiques, more out-there fashion and vintage; Primrose Hill for grown up fashion boutiques and pretty underwear; Angel and Islington for some serious interior design and furnishing, and mouth-watering delis; and for those south of the river, Fulham and Parsons Green has a great mix of menswear, delis, beautiful furnishings and boutiques while in Battersea and Clapham you’ll find stylish kitchenware, accessories and fanciful antiques.
Independent London Store Guide, by Moritz Steiger & Effie Fotaki, is published by Monstermedia.
