marmaLADIES can easily relate to the characters depicted in this limited edition of Tinker Bell and Peter Pan sculptures. Tinker Bell falls in love with Peter, a boy who is out of her reach. He can't see beyond the fact she's a fairy. And Peter Pan, the boy who never grows up. Most of us can think of man who behaves like this much-loved mythical character!
London-born artist, Diarmuid Byron-O'Connor sculpted the original statue of Tinker Bell and Peter Pan, which sits in the garden of Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH). Diarmuid has now released limited editions of both characters, and is donating 17% net proceeds to GOSH's Children's Charity.
Tinker Bell is London’s smallest sculpture, and the limited edition is to the exact same scale as the original. Getting your hands on one of these limited editions is a smart way to get on the art collectables ladder, as well as getting in touch with the make believe world. J M Barrie's Peter Pan story touches people deeply.
Diarmuid shares "It’s about the adventure life can be, charged with love, sacrifice and fantastic possibilities. With each reading you discover another truth or meaning. Even the most stony hearted will clap to save Tinker Bell. This reveals our deep routed desire to accept that fairies have a special place in our hearts."
The original sculpture has certainly captured the hearts of sick children who visit Great Ormond Street Hospital. Doctors and nurses encourage the children to sit with the sculpture, so they can escape to NeverNever Land, a place where the unknown holds no fear.
Monies raised from this limited edition will go towards the ongoing rebuilding and refurbishment of the hospital and the Institute of Child Health, purchasing the most up-to-date equipment, research and development into new and better treatments as well as accommodation and other support services for families and staff.
These exquisite sculptures masterfully capture the unique personalities of these iconic treasures and would make the perfect adornment to a room or an heirloom gift to a child. And it's particularly rewarding to know that GOSH and the children they support, will benefit too.
