You only have to whisper (huskily) the two B words and images of sizzling hot sex kitten spring to mind. Can’t hurt for your party outfit! Top tips from hair stylist Aimee Robinson
Describe the do
A normal straight blow dry, flat on the ends, with a bit of back-combing that gives it a 1960s bee-hive look. And a long fringe with a bit of volume. To make it really modern don’t backcomb so much. You can also wear it with a hairband.
What’s so great about it?
I’m being asked to do this all the time for parties – it’s the perfect party look! It’s really easy to do. It’s sexy and relaxed, not too over-stated and doesn’t look too try-hard. The long fringe hides your eyes, making it very sultry.
What type of hair does it suit best?
Ideally you need a fringe and straight hair that is collarbone length or longer. If you’ve got a wave or curls then this needs to be blow-dried straight first. And of course any colour goes.
What kind of outfits work well with this?
It’s a complete sixties look, so if you want to go all Sienna Miller as Edie Sedgwick then that’s perfect. Tunic dresses and platform wedges will make a fab outfit.
Will it last all night?
Once you’ve backcombed your hair it will pretty much stay put. If it’s done well it will definitely last all night. The best product to use is hairspray to keep it in place. I love Bumble & Bumble Prep. Spray at the roots to give real hold.
How long does it take to do?
Usually about half an hour or so. If you come into the salon I can get you all dolled up, with a hair wash and dry, and then styling. Perfect pre-party pampering!
